Parenting: Two Childhoods, One Home

Parenting has a way of revealing what's deepest in our hearts; our fears, our insecurities, our values, and the unexamined parts of our own story. And when two people with two completely different upbringings come together to raise a family, it can be really beautiful… and really messy. Sound familiar?

In this episode, Davina and Caroline (A church member and licensed therapist) dig into what happens when your childhood collides with your spouse's and how couples can move toward unity without shaming, belittling, or turning each other into opponents. We talk about how to shift from "you're doing it wrong" to "help me understand," how to navigate disagreements on consequences and boundaries, and how to value both the heart-led and structure-led parent in your home.

Here's the truth: God didn't make you and your spouse the same on purpose. The differences you bring to parenting; emotional attunement, structure, discipline, compassion... aren't incompatibilities, they're complementary gifts. Just as God parents us with both grace and truth, both love and instruction, He calls us to do the same together. Parenting was never meant to be carried by one strength alone.

Whether you're brand new to this journey or deep in the trenches, this conversation is for every couple trying to shepherd their home well -together.
